Siege Creep Timer Guide
Master catapult spawn timing and coordinate powerful pushes with siege waves
What are Siege Creeps?
Siege creeps (also called catapults or siege units) are powerful ranged creeps that spawn periodically in each lane. They have high damage against structures, making them crucial for pushing towers and securing objectives. Unlike regular lane creeps, siege creeps have a fortified armor type which gives them 80% damage reduction against hero attacks, making them incredibly durable.
Siege creeps deal bonus damage to buildings and have longer attack range than melee creeps, allowing them to safely tank tower shots while your team pushes. Their presence in a wave significantly increases the wave's pushing power and can be the difference between taking a tower and being forced to retreat.

Strategic Importance of Siege Waves
Why Siege Creeps Matter
- Tower Damage: Siege creeps deal significant bonus damage to buildings, helping you take towers faster
- Tower Tank: Their fortified armor and high HP make them excellent at absorbing tower shots while your team attacks
- Wave Pushing: They help push lanes forward, creating map pressure and space for your team
- Coordination Tool: Siege spawn timings give your team natural windows to group up and push together
- Defensive Tool: Enemy siege creeps can be used to defend towers - if they reach your tower, they tank shots efficiently
Power Spikes with Siege Creeps
Certain timings align with siege spawns, creating powerful push opportunities:
- 5:00 - First Siege: Perfect timing for aggressive lane dominance or taking outer towers with early game advantages
- 10:00 - Second Siege: Core item timings (boots upgrades, first major item) often complete around this time
- 15:00 - Third Siege: Mid game power spikes, BKBs online, good time for coordinated 5-man pushes
- 20:00 - Fourth Siege: Aligns with Tormentor spawn, major item completions (Aghs, second major item)
How to Use Siege Waves Effectively
Time Your Pushes
Look at the game clock. When it's approaching 5:00, 10:00, 15:00, etc., prepare to push with the incoming siege wave. Clear camps, grab runes, and rotate to the target lane.
Protect Your Siege Creep
Your siege creep is valuable. Don't let enemies kill it easily. Position yourself to deny enemy heroes from targeting it, and use disables to protect it during tower pushes.
Stack Siege Waves
If you can't push immediately, hold the wave near your tower. The next wave will join, creating a double siege wave that's much harder to defend against.
Deny Enemy Sieges
When defending, prioritize killing enemy siege creeps quickly. Use spells on them - they have 0% magic resistance and die fast to nukes, preventing long sieges on your towers.
Coordinate with Team
Communicate siege spawn timings with your team. Ping the game clock at :00 timings and mark the lane you want to push. Grouped pushes with siege waves are very effective.
Mega Creep Consideration
After taking all enemy barracks, your siege creeps become mega siege creeps with significantly increased stats. This makes it nearly impossible for enemies to defend.
Common Mistakes to Avoid
- Pushing without siege creeps: Trying to take towers without a siege wave is much less effective. Wait for the next siege spawn if possible.
- Letting siege creeps die for free: Don't let the enemy freely kill your siege creep. Trade hits, use spells, or pressure them away.
- Not tracking enemy siege spawns: Knowing when the enemy siege will arrive helps you defend more effectively or punish overextension.
- Ignoring lane equilibrium: Killing your own siege creep (denying) can be useful to control lane position and prevent enemy pushes.
- Wasting siege waves: If a siege wave pushes into the enemy while your team is on the other side of the map, you're wasting pushing potential. Control the wave.
Heroes That Excel with Siege Creeps
Some heroes synergize particularly well with siege creep timings:
- Lycan: His ultimate and wolves combined with a siege wave can take towers in seconds
- Death Prophet: Exorcism + siege creep makes tower pushes extremely fast and hard to contest
- Pugna: Nether Blast and Decrepify help protect siege creeps while pushing towers
- Beastmaster: Hawk provides vision, boar tanks, and siege creep pushes tower
- Shadow Shaman: Serpent Wards + siege creep = instant tower deletion
- Leshrac: Can clear waves to stack siege creeps and push with lightning speed
- Dragon Knight: Tank form + siege creep creates unstoppable push pressure
Advanced Siege Wave Tactics
Double Siege Wave
By controlling creep equilibrium, you can create a double siege wave where two siege creeps are in the same wave. This happens when you prevent the first siege wave from dying until the next wave (with another siege) arrives. This creates massive pushing power.
Siege Wave Timing with Objectives
Coordinate siege waves with other objectives:
- 20:00 siege + Tormentor fight can force enemies to choose which to defend
- Power rune (6:00, 8:00, 10:00...) + siege wave = strong push with rune advantage
- After winning a team fight, wait 30 seconds for the next wave if siege is spawning soon
- Roshan timing + siege wave creates multiple pressure points on the map
Lane Control for Siege Timing
Starting at around X:30 (30 seconds before siege spawn), begin controlling the lane. Clear the enemy wave quickly but hold your wave near your tower. When the siege spawns at X:00, immediately push with the enhanced wave while enemies are still dealing with their previous wave.
